Here are past 1-semester projects done by classes in Warehouse & Distribution Science. You will find descriptions of the company and its operations and concerns, just as presented to the class.

• August 2012:
  • Design a layout and slotting plan for FactoryMation, a vendor of control mechanisms in Canton, GA
  • Design a layout and slotting plan for SED International, a fulfillment specialist for consumer electronics and related goods, in Lawrenceville, GA)
• January 2012:
  • Review and improve warehouse processes at Currey & Company.
• August 2011:
  • Recommend a process for moving totes through the order-picking line in flow racks at Walgreens DC in Anderson, SC.
• January 2011:
  • Devise a cartonization plan for the distribution centers of School Specialty, Inc., Greenville, WI, that will reduce costs of shipping as well as costs of cardboard.
  • Improve slotting and optimize the pick-path at a Coca-Cola distribution center in the Atlanta area
• August 2010:
  • Improve the pick-path and slotting strategy of the Miami Distribution Center of Mobis Parts America, a service parts DC for KIA and Hyundai.
  • Slot the new Dallas distribution center for for S. P. Richards Co.
  • Students in Panama: Conduct a census of warehousing capacity in the Republic of Panama, and use this build a model of national storage and distribution capacity.
• January 2010:
  • Design a new layout for the Miami Distribution Center of Caterpillar Logistics
  • Re-engineer distribution at The Maintenance Connection in Gorham, Maine.
• August 2009:
  • Re-layout the Atlanta DC for Cat Logistics to account for expected growth in the next five years.
  • Re-engineer the facility and process at Maui Jim Sunglasses, Peoria, IL.
• January 2009:
  • Improve order-picking from the carton flow rack area at Walgreen's DC in Anderson, SC
• August 2008:
  • Determine which size boxes S. P. Richards Co. should use to ship product to customers
  • Devise a model that can be used to predict or evaluate rates of case-picking in a cold chain environment.
• January 2008:
  • Slot the split-case fast-pick area of the DC in Norcross, GA for Access Business Group.
  • Evaluate slotting and control strategies for an implementation of Kiva Systems at a the Houston, TX DC of S. P. Richards Co.
• August 2007:
  • Slot the full-case fast-pick area of the DC in Norfolk, VA for Pepsi Bottling Group.
  • Adapt bucket brigade order-picking to the special situation at the DC in Norcross, GA for Access Business Group.
• January 2007:
  • Improve order-picking productivity at a BAX 3rd party distribution center in Ohio
  • Design the layout for expansion of the DC at Dos Pinos, the largest distributor of dairy products in Costa Rica
• August 2006:
  • Improve order-picking productivity at Carolina Biological Supply in North Carolina
• January 2006:
  • Design logic to slot by product affinity, for Manhattan Associates, vendor of software for warehouse and supply chain management software; and
  • Design the layout for a new DC for Ace International, Republic of Panama.
• January 2005: Improve order-picking productivity at the Morristown, NJ distribution center of S. P. Richards, a wholesale distributor of office products
• September 2004: Improve product layout for International Truck and Engine, a service parts distributor in Georgia
• January 2004: Design a template for distribution centers of S. P. Richards Co.
